Multi Mission
Multi mission roles
The TBM is a highly adaptable platform with capabilities across the full range of multi-mission applications. Among the aircraft’s key features for multi-mission duties are its high speed, long range and extended loiter times, along with superior visibility, an adaptable cabin, and excellent handling qualities from slow flight to the maximum cruise speed of 330 KTAS.
The TBM 960 joins Daher Aircraft’s “go anywhere” Kodiak 100 and Kodiak 900 airplanes for a complete family of multi-mission platforms – backed by the worldwide Daher Care customer support network.
The TBM’s high flight speeds enable the aircraft to rapidly reach a designated mission area, followed by extended loiter times once on station. Its reduced external noise contributes to operational discretion, and the short takeoff and landing distances enable operations from 2,455-ft. (750-meter) runways and airstrips.
Daher Aircraft’s latest TBM version – the TBM 960 – benefits from the integration of digital power, which brings Garmin’s G3000 modern avionics together with a single-lever integrated autothrottle for simplified engine control. The TBM e-copilot® functionality ensures protection throughout the flight envelope, along with reduced crew workload and enhanced situational awareness.
In addition to being one of the fastest airplanes in its category, the TBM 960 can rapidly transition between high/low-speed mission scenarios. As an example, after performing a slow pass to surveil a sector as a “birddog” aircraft for wildfire air attack missions, the TBM 960’s powerful PT6E-66XT turboprop engine and five-blade composite propeller enable the aircraft to reposition quickly, readying it for the lead-in of airtankers that drop water or retardant.

Versatile
In operational service around the world, the TBM aircraft family’s multi-mission applications range from government/military transportation and liaison to aerial firefighting coordination, flight test support and aerial cinematography. Its two designed-in underwing hardpoints enable a full range of external payloads to be integrated.
Reliable
Built with a rugged airframe, the TBM is designed for high dispatch reliability and easy maintenance in the field. Its Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 turboprop engine is the powerplant of choice for demanding high-cycle/high-power applications. State-of-the-art avionics and an integrated glass cockpit reduce crew workload and enhance situational awareness – making the TBM the safest and most adaptable aircraft in its class.
Powerful
The TBM’s PT6-series engines are among the most reliable aircraft powerplants ever built. Their unmatched performance, simple design, and high efficiency are backed by low operational costs and easy maintenance. On the latest TBM 960 version, the PT6E-66XT and five-blade composite propeller are linked to the aircraft’s dual-channel digital Engine and Propeller Electronic Control System (EPECS) – which optimizes powerplant performance throughout the flight envelope and protects the engine during its lifetime.
State-of-the-art
Equipped with Garmin’s G3000 integrated flight deck, the TBM 960’s modern human-machine interface includes a single-lever integrated autothrottle. The TBM e-copilot® ensures high operational safety and reduced crew workload, with functionality that includes an icing protection system, angle of attack (AOA) indicator, ESP/USP systems (Enhanced Safety Protection/Under Speed Protection), an emergency descent mode (EDM), along with the game-changing HomeSafe™ emergency autoland system.
WILDFIRE AIR ATTACK
CONAIR GROUP, INC
Conair selected the TBM 960 as its new generation “birddog” airplane for wildfire attack missions, based on the airplane’s excellent performance, modern design, advanced technology, high reliability and dependable support from Daher as the aircraft manufacturer.
“ We are planning for our future by selecting the TBM 960, which ensures that our birddog aircraft aren't grounded when needed the most due to a lack of spare parts, increased maintenantce , or obsolence”
Matt Bradley - Conair's president & CEO
AERIAL CINEMATOGRAPHY
AIRBORNE FILMS
Airborne Films is a French-based video production company with world-renowned expertise in aerial cinematography. In partnership with Daher, it has developed a superior aerial cinematography system to shoot 8K video at high flight speeds. In this role, the TBM has been equipped with a six-axis Shotover F1 gyro-stabilized platform under the wing.
“ Creating high quality cinematic content is the essence of what we do at Airborne Films. The TBM assists us in performing our missions for clients around the world - including visual storytelling and innovative communications”
Eric Magnan - Director & Co-founder
MILITARY TRANSPORTATION
FRENCH ARMY AVIATION
The French Army Aviation operates TBMs for its squadron that transports military command authorities from headquarters to operational bases across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Its fleet of earlier-production TBM versions has been upgraded by Daher Aircraft with Garmin’s G1000 all-glass avionics suite. Daher supports the squadron with a full operational support contract, with these TBMs among the French armed forces’ first aircraft maintained outside the military organizational structure under a “power by the hour” type contract.
LIAISON DUTIES
FRENCH AIR AND SPACE FORCE
The French Air and Space Force is the longest-running TBM military operator, with deliveries beginning in 1992. Its TBMs perform liaison duties between operational bases in France and throughout Europe, while also being deployed in the training of pilot officers. Three squadrons utilize a fleet of aircraft that has been upgraded with the G1000 integrated flight deck. Maintenance is provided by Daher Aircraft’s Care Team under a full operational support contract
